“The class superlative for this trip is ‘most consecutive days awoken at dawn’.
We saw many a sunrise, including this one over Mount Bromo poking through the clouds. The view is from the peak of nearby Mount Penanjakan in Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java.
We later descended below the clouds to cross the sea of sand and went up to the crater mouth of the sulfur-smoke belching mount bromo. The air was particularly thick that day with the gag-inducing throat-stinging smoke and dust and after a point visibility was at absolute zero, so we didn’t make it all the way up. “

Rachel Corrie’s Alma Mater Calls For College Divestment

The student body of the Evergreen State College—the alma mater of slain U.S. peace activist Rachel Corrie—passed two resolutions supporting the international BDS campaign last week.

The first resolution “calls for The Evergreen State College Foundation to divest from companies that profit from Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine, as part of instituting a socially responsible investment policy,” according to a TESC Divest press release.
The second resolution demands that all Caterpillar, Inc. equipment be banned from campus use.
